This apprenticeship in supporting teaching and learning helps learning support staff, such as teaching assistants, play a vital role in today’s classrooms by making sure students get the most out of their lessons.

As an intermediate apprentice in supporting teaching and learning, a candidate will work under the close supervision of a class teacher. Their duties will vary depending on how the teachers they work with plan their lessons and handle day-to-day classroom activities - however, they could find themselves supervising arts and crafts activities, helping with
outings, or reading to the class.

Employment rights and responsibilities

As specified in the guidelines for employment rights and responsibilities (ERR) developed by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA). The guidelines include a completion form which must be signed by the apprentice, employer and provider as evidence that the ERR component has been successfully completed.


Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

As specified in the PLTS log developed by the TDA. The log includes a completion form which must be signed by the apprentice, employer and provider as evidence that the ERR component has been successfully completed.
