Brickwork Apprenticeship Framework

The table below shows all the elements that are required to achieve the Brickwork Advanced Apprenticeship Framework. Apprentices must successfully achieve all the elements before an Apprenticeship Certificate is awarded by the Sector Skills Council - Construction Skills.

Apprenticeship

NVQ 2 in Trowel Occupations

  • Adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Erecting masonry structures
  • Providing details of masonry structures
  • Setting out masonry structures
  • Saw materials and equipment
  • Brick and block-work walling
  • Construction walling details
  • Setting out basic buildings.

Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying

  • Know how to carry out safe working practices in construction;
  • Carry out basic block laying;
  • Know how to carry out basic cavity walling;
  • Information, quantities and communicating with others;
  • Thin joint masonry and masonry cladding;
  • Build solid walling, isolated and attached piers
  • There are 8 units in total to complete which includes an external test at the end of the course.
