The table below shows all the elements that are required to achieve the carpentry Apprenticeship Framework. Apprentice must successfully achieve all the elements before an Apprenticeship Certificate is awarded by the Sector Skills Council - Construction Skills.

Apprenticeship

NVQ 2 in Wood Occupations

  • Obtaining and loading out of trade related materials.
  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance which includes removing doors, door frames, windows, flooring, joists, kitchen units, staircases.
  • Operating woodwork machinery to prepare materials for use in either manufacture or replacement of joinery items.
  • Using power tools in conjunction with repairs and maintenance

Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery. Core Units:

  • Employment Rights & Responsibilities
  • Carry Out Safe Working Practices in Construction
  • Information, Quantities & Communication 2
  • Building Methods & Construction Technology 2
  • Set Up & Operate a Circular Saw

Site Units:

  • Carry Out First Fixing Operations
  • Carry Out Second Fixing
  • Erect Structural Carcassing
  • Carry out Maintenance
  • Set Up & Operate a Circular Saw

Bench Joinery Units:

  • Produce Setting Out for Routine Joinery
  • Mark Out from Setting Out Routine Joinery
  • Manufacture Routine Joinery Products

Key/Functional Skills Communication level 1
