Course Information
ITQ is a new and very flexible National Vocational Qualification
that will enable you to gain credit for the IT Skills that you need
for your specific job. ITQ is more than just a new qualification-
it is a new way of thinking.
It is a journey of skills development supported by a framework
for recognising achievement. Aligned to the need of business, it
allows employers and learners to take control of the learning
experience.
Learning and skills outcomes:
• The aim of this qualification is to recognise the
application of a range of IT user skills and knowledge in the
workplace, meeting employer workforce demand
• The flexibility of this qualification will enable
individuals' skills to be adapted for a specific work based
activity and/or employer requirements.
• Help staff do their job better, improving quality of
output and decreasing time spent on solving problems
Suggested audience and pre-requirements:
It is designed for anyone who is using IT in their day-to-day
work.
You do not need any formal qualification, but will need to
be using IT at work.

The qualification is designed to develop skills, knowledge and
understanding required to enable progressing to and from
qualification along vertical and horizontal planes in the National
Vocational Framework.
Course detail
The qualification consists of one mandatory unit that you must
achieve through evidence assessed from real workplace. You then
chose an appropriate selection of optional units that reflects your
need and opportunities. These optional units can be assessed in a
number of way. The level of mandatory units decides the overall
level of the qualification.

Duration and delivery
Duration
3-6 month delivery in the work place.
Candidates will be seen by a Trainer for approximately 2 hours
fortnightly.
Delivery
Candidates will need access to an individual Internet ready
PC.
Training will be delivered in the work place.
Following a group induction (3 hours) and initial assessment
candidates will work with the Trainer to put together a portfolio
and will be assessed and observed working on their PC.
