Who is this course for?
Training designed for gas installers who are updating or
require fundamental training over a range of core gas areas, some
category 3 candidates may wish to prepare for ACS assessments using
this route, the courses are held on demand and cover 2,3 and 5 day
modes of attendance.
What will be studied?
The course will cover theory and practical aspects of gas safety
and associated procedures, comprehensive course manuals and
workbooks are provided to allow course members the opportunity to
study at their own pace.
A brief outline of the course:
- Interpretation of the gas safety regulations
- Domestic installations - connections procedures, pipework
installation and sizing
- Testing and purging of domestic gas pipework
- Combustion - characteristics, features and legal
requirements
- Pressure and flow- understanding of gas flow through pipes and
appliances
- Unsafe situations categories prevention and reporting
- Gas safety controls - types of control, functions and fault
rectification
- Flueing standards - types, uses, siting, testing of gas
appliance flues
- Ventilation requirements for gas appliances.
- Gas notification procedures
What can I do next?
Success in this course will allow a candidate to progress to other
ACS categories.
What are the entry requirements?
Working within the gas installation industry with either
previous ACS certification or applying under category 2 or 3
(please see eligibility sheet enclosed)
