Maintenance Operations NVQ Level 2

This qualification establishes the NVQ level 2 content for individuals employed in the maintenance of buildings, structures and their interior and exterior fixtures and fittings. It is unusual for individuals to be totally proficient in all aspects of building and construction maintenance.

This level 2 is structured to allow candidates to attain a mandatory set of core units and to choose a minimum of three occupational routes from a range of occupational routes. The flexibility of this qualification allows candidates to obtain further units if they so wish and give them recognition for their skills.

When undertaking a qualification that does not appear on the governments' lists as eligible for funding for specific age ranges, users must be aware of legal requirements. Not all qualifications are suitable for all age ranges.

Progression
Operatives who work in the maintenance sector will be able to progress to supervisory and management levels and obtain level 3 qualifications such as Occupational Work Supervision and Construction Site Supervision.

Overall assessment method for the qualification
The Awarding Body (AB) uses a Computer based touch-screen process, operated by an independent contractor, to assess a mandatory Health and Safety unit within the NVQ qualification. The candidate does not get issued with their NVQ certificate until this test has been achieved. The principle of holistic assessment is positively encouraged by the AB.

Qualification structure summary
Candidates must complete all eight Mandatory Core units in Group A; plus three of the Optional Routes B, C, D, E ,F, G or H.

Within these selected Optional Routes; candidates are required to complete at least two units in Group B; at least two in Group C; all units in Group D; at least two in Group E; all units in Group F; at least two in Group G; at least two in Group H.
