The practical aspects of this course are delivered in workshops that are designed to simulate a working environment for realistic training. The assessments require the learner to complete relevant practical tasks and end of unit question papers.

Who is this course for?
The Level 2 Diploma is for people who wish to learn Carpentry and Construction skills with a view to becoming a qualified Carpenter (along with the relevant NVQ). Learners should be practically minded, can adapt to various situations, able to work as part of a team or on your own as necessary.

What are the entry requirements?
Applicants will need to hold the Level 1 Diploma, Foundation Construction Award or equivalent in Wood Occupations.

What will I be doing on the course?
The Diploma contains the following components:

  • General core units
  • Occupation specific units
  • Practical assignment
  • Online testing of knowledge (comprising of the GOLA online test, a separate knowledge test set and marked by the CAA)

In order to gain the Diploma qualification, each learner must successfully complete all of the above components. All outcomes must be achieved during the training programme (evidence from site based testing is not permissible).

How do I study the course?
The course can be studied full-time or part-time day release with block weeks. The course consists of a combination of assignments, projects, end of unit tests, lectures, class notes, practical tests, with a final online exam.

What can I do after this course?
On completion of this Diploma, learners may progress into employment or on to one or more of the following:
Level 3 in the same occupation
Technical Supervisors and Management Qualification
