English for specific or academic purposes are bespoke programs designed to meet the needs of employers or employees with higher level English Language needs. They are aimed at non-native speakers.

IELTS is an internationally recognised qualifications for those employees requiring a certified level of English to work or practice in the UK or enter a university program.

Learning and skills outcomes
Learners are assessed beforehand and courses are customised to meet employers and employees language training needs.

Examples of programs available

  • 1 to 1 English language training for overseas specialists working in the UK.
  • English language training classes for organisations employing large numbers of overseas specialists, consultants or PHD students.
  • English language training for NHS workers requiring IELTS 8.5 or above to work with the general public
  • English language training for overseas research students
  • Academic English programs for working-professionals required to obtain degree level qualifications. For example, nursing or medical professionals, social workers and youth workers. 

Duration
Average programs are 30 or more hours for 10 - 15 weeks, tailored to suit employers. Courses run at times to meet the needs of the business and take into account shift patterns.

Mode of study
Courses are delivered through taught classes in groups by  a Numeracy trainer. They can also be tailored to support the achievement of, or progression onto an NVQ.
