Is this course for me?
This course, which is aimed at experienced child carers working
in a variety of settings, suits those interested in furthering
their career and qualifying as an advanced practitioner. Applicants
need to be employed working with young children to complete this
course and must have gained a Level 3 childcare qualification, as
well as have 2 years post-qualification experience.
What will I study?
This course explores all aspects of child development. Areas
covered include planning, curriculum development, developing
professional practice around child protection, and working with
parents. Students also choose a specialism, which supports and
develops work as a practitioner. This course has been developed
within a consortium, lead by South Bank University.

What can I do next?
This can lead to a number of professional degree programmes
including teacher training. This leads into two pathways for honour
degrees at South Bank, Greenwich (Honours Degree Early Years
Practitioner Status) and other universities.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need at least two years qualifying experience at Level
3 and must be currently working in childcare. There is an
assessment and interview, and applicants need to register for a
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check two or three months before the
start of the course.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment includes assignments, group work, oral presentations,
projects, essays and portfolios. Students have regular meetings
with a personal tutor to discuss progress and help plan studies.
Additional support, help and guidance. A mentor from the workpalce
is necessary. She/he will give you additional Support and
guidance
