Mandatory Units
The candidate is required to complete all four mandatory units if
working in social care
HSC21: Communicate with, and complete records for individuals
HSC22: Support the health and safety of yourself and
individuals
HSC23: Develop your knowledge and practice
HSC24: Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and
well-being of individuals

Unit Combinations
To gain the full NVQ all four mandatory units plus two optional
units from must be achieved if working in social care. In the
healthcare setting two core units, two optional units plus a
further two units (from either the core or option group) are
required.
Additional units are available but cannot be used as part of the
NVQ.
