About BICSc
The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) is the largest
independent professional and educational body within the cleaning
industry.
Founded in 1961, its mission is 'the raising of status and
standards of the cleaning industry, through education'.
The Course
This course is aimed at and designed for hospitality and cleaning
operatives.
The Stage 1 Cleaning Operatives Proficiency Certificate (COPC)
is made up any 10 tasks offered (see below). Stage 2 and 3 COPC is
a further 10 tasks each. All tasks can be offered as
stand-alone certificates.
The Qualifications can be delivered in the workplace or at
Lewisham College. Each 10 task stage takes 18 hours.
All learners will be trained to the BICSc standards by our
qualified BICSc Assessors. After training, learners will undertake
a practical assessment on each of the 10 chosen tasks. Upon
successful completion, learners will receive a nationally
recognised BICSc qualification.

A7 Strip, dry and reapply emulsion polish
A8B Prepare and reapply a semi permanent seal using a scarifying
assembly on a concrete floor
A8C Prepare and reapply a semi permanent seal using a chemical
stripping agent
A9 Bonnet mopping
A10 Vitrification
A12 Scrubber drying with an electrically Powered scrubber
drier
A15 Cleaning of stairs, landings, balustrades and handrails
A16 Drum sanding
